Musical Theatre
The primary goal of the Molloy/CAP21 BFA Musical Theatre Program is to offer students the highest level of practical and academic preparation to enter and compete in the professional theatre. The courses in this program are taught between our two locations: the Molloy University Main Campus in Rockville Centre and the Molloy/CAP21 Manhattan Center in NYC. Students enrolled in the BFA Musical Theatre Program engage in a rigorous and challenging course of study that involves both academic coursework and intensive conservatory training. The academic component of this training is taught at the Rockville Center Campus and includes general education courses as well as some Conservatory courses, while the Molloy/CAP21 Studio courses, which are taught at the Molloy/CAP21 Manhattan Center focus exclusively on the practical application of musical theatre performance techniques. The training in acting technique, both singing and speaking voice, dance, script analysis, and music (theory, piano, sight-singing) supports students in the development and refinement of their musical theatre performance skills. Our comprehensive training also provides a solid foundation in audition technique and the business aspects of the professional theatre to assist in launching a professional career and achieving lifelong success as a theatre artist.
