The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy
The mission of The Rebecca Center is to use interactive music therapy interventions to facilitate relatedness, communication and thinking while removing physical and cognitive barriers that prevent people with developmental challenges from engaging in essential social interactions and life processes for people of all ages. The Center works towards its mission in a multifaceted way: clinical services, training and education, research and publications. It provides services for children, adolescents, young adults and the elderly.
Programs at The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy at Molloy College are aimed at discovering the unique potential in every person through interactive musical-play, in order to facilitate engagement, relatedness, communication, and thinking. In creating a non-judgmental, musically and emotionally supportive therapeutic atmosphere, one can discover emotional and behavioral self-regulation through engaging in interactive musical-play.
