BIO 3570 Neuropharmacology of the Brain

(formerly BIO 357)

This course explores the anatomical, biochemical, physiological and pharmacological aspects of brain function in the normal and pathological states. The major focus of the course is on the action of neurotransmitters, neuromodulators and neurohormones in regulating central nervous system function. Drugs used to treat neurological disorders and their possible mechanism of action are an integral part of the course, as are the effects of substances of abuse.
