EDU 3150 Methods and Techniques of Teaching Spanish for Adolescent Students

This course focuses on teaching Spanish for communicative proficiency. The goals are to assist the teacher candidates to master the strategies and resources necessary to teach the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing so that the students will be able to use Spanish for communication as well as develop cross-cultural skills and understanding. Remedial and enrichment techniques will be discussed. A practical and theoretical framework for foreign language acquisition at the middle and high school level will be presented with special emphasis on lesson planning and teaching strategies. This course also helps to prepare candidates for the edTPA World Language Assessment by analyzing and applying the three tasks: (1) Planning for Instruction and Assessment, (2) Instructing and Engaging Students in Learning and (3) Assessing Student Learning.
