SPA 4250 Hispanic Women Writers

(formerly SPA 425; SPA 256)

This course explores the literary works of a wide variety of Hispanic women writers from the seventeenth century to the present. Throughout the history of Hispanic literature, women writers have been creating spaces of power in their texts in a very original way. The course will study these spaces in relation to gender, class and race representation in different political and historical periods. Readings will include different genres: poetry, novels, short stories, dramas and essays.
