Nursing Education, Nursing Administration, Nurse Informatics, Nursing Administration with Informatics and Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist
The primary focus of the Nursing Education Advanced Certificate Program is humanistic teaching/learning as it applies to nursing education in baccalaureate or associate degree programs as well as in-service, continuing education or community health programs. The Nursing Administration Advanced Certificate Program has as its focus, humanistic management of human resources in a variety of health care settings requiring nursing services. The theory/field experience (practica) courses provide for the testing of role theories, the exploration of role expectations and experience in the selected role.
The CNS student is prepared through classroom and clinical activities to provide comprehensive care to individuals with health problems in a particular area. Research, education, collaboration, coordination, consultation and referral are roles for the Clinical Nurse Specialist.
The Nursing Education program provides the skills necessary to teach in a formal academic setting, in a patient education situation or in a staff development role.
The Nurse Administration with Informatics program is focused on the skills needed by the nurse administrator and manager. Nursing Administration in combination with informatics and business concepts provide a strong foundation in the current and evolving health care environment.
The Nurse Informatics program is an advanced course of study designed for nurses who have a master’s degree in nursing. This curriculum focuses on theory and skills required to succeed as an informatics nurse specialist in a variety of health care environments that incorporate Telehealth practice/health information systems. Students participate in relevant clinical practice with a health or nursing information technology expert. Seminars will provide theoretical content and discussions of the current issues and trends in informatics focusing on applications of health information systems related to patient care, strategic planning in management and tactical planning for Telehealth practice.
