HIS 2900H Racism and the Counter-storytelling of African American History

In this course, the class examines major social issues surrounding race relations in America, with emphasis on causes and consequences of prejudice and discrimination. The course will further analyze racism in both historical and contemporary context providing opportunities to discuss, understand and connect historical implications to the current social climate in America. This course is particularly relevant when understanding the tone and tenor of the current political environment. Students who experience this course will learn to reflect on the purpose of history and who decides it.  Honors students only. Fulfills General Education History requirement.
