SWK 2500 Diversity: Oppression, Privilege and Social Justice

This course is designed to engage students in a process of self-awareness relevant to generalist practice with diverse populations, and to promote understanding, affirmation and respect for people from diverse backgrounds. The content emphasizes the dynamic and complex nature of diversity and personal identity. The impact of oppression on specific populations will also be examined. Students will learn how to use this perspective in assessing, planning, intervening and evaluating practice with clients.
