NUR 3490 Humanistic Nursing Care of Children and Families

This Level III theory and clinical course focuses on the humanistic nursing care of children in the context of their families. The unique needs of infants, children, and adolescents experiencing illness and hospitalization are explored in relation to their growth and developmental needs. Nursing implications of genetics/genomics discussed as it relates to relevant illnesses of the child. This full semester 4 credit course allocates: two (2) hour/week theory course, 1 credit towards 37.5 hours face to face patient encounters and 1 credit (25 hrs) to alternative clinical experiences including high fidelity simulation, v-sim experiences, case studies, and other modalities for a total of 62.5 clinical hours.
