Fourragère - Honors Cord Presentation
The Fourragère or Honors Cord worn about the left shoulder of the academic gown symbolizes scholastic achievement at Molloy University. It derives from the French military decoration for distinguished service. Students receive the White Fourragère for one year’s excellence (two uninterrupted consecutive semesters on the Dean’s List); American Beauty rose for two year's excellence (four uninterrupted consecutive semesters on the Dean's List); and gold for attaining scholastic honors for three year's excellence (six uninterrupted consecutive semesters on the Dean's List). A special blue Fourragère is presented to those students who have attained the distinction of being on the Dean's List for eight uninterrupted consecutive semesters. The American Beauty Rose Fourragère is the highest honor achievable for most transfer students.
For part-time students who have requested in writing to Academic Affairs inclusion on the Dean's List of Distinguished Part-Time Students, consideration for the Honors Cords may be given when the student is attaining the equivalent of two consecutive full-time semesters taken for letter grades. This would mean the student has achieved the Dean's List of Distinguished Part-Time Students twice and consecutively.
Students in the Five Year Education Programs for the combined BA/MS or the BS/MS degrees can qualify for the Honors Cord with the undergraduate students for undergraduate coursework completed by the end of the fourth year of the program (Spring of the Senior Year Professional Semester). Graduate-level coursework required for the Fifth Year Professional Semesters is not considered for Honors Cords eligibility.

Fourragère - Honors Cord Presentation
The Fourragère or Honors Cord worn about the left shoulder of the academic gown symbolizes scholastic achievement at Molloy University. It derives from the French military decoration for distinguished service. Full-time matriculated students are awarded a blue Fourragère after they have attained the distinction of being on the dean’s list for 7 consecutive, uninterrupted semesters. This distinction will be awarded and worn at class night and commencement.
For part-time students who have requested in writing to Academic Affairs inclusion on the Dean's List of Distinguished Part-Time Students, consideration for the blue cord may be given when the student attains the equivalent of seven consecutive full-time semesters taken for letter grades (typically 14 semesters on the Dean’s List of Distinguished Part Time Students). This would mean the student has achieved the Dean's List of Distinguished Part-Time Students consecutively and uninterrupted. See the topic on Dean's List of Distinguished Part-Time Students.
Students enrolled in a program of study which includes completion of graduate coursework are not eligible for a blue Fourragère if one or more of their 7 semesters includes graduate coursework.
Exemplary Recognition
Full-time students who maintain a GPA of 3.8 for 5 consecutive, uninterrupted, semesters, (excluding summer and intersession sessions), will be honored with Exemplary Recognition. These students may seek a faculty recommendation for Exemplary Recognition and if awarded will be granted automatic admission into a Molloy University graduate program for the semester following their graduation. The student should contact the graduate program director to discuss this opportunity and submit an application. The student must have the required prerequisite coursework or make up any necessary coursework as instructed by the academic department to which they are admitted. In the case of a December graduation, enrollment of the student with Exemplary Recognition in the desired graduate program would need to be with the next cohort of admitted students. Those students who attain this level of academic success and register for a minimum of 6 graduate credits following graduation, would receive a scholarship of one 3 credit graduate course.
Students attaining Exemplary Recognition will be given special recognition at class night.
