Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics Minor

The Department of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Business have co-developed a minor in Cybersecurity. It is built on a comprehensive understanding of the field that will have practical application. The program of study provides students with knowledge of computer security, basic information on computers, networking skills, understanding the internet, learning how to do investigations, knowledge of the law, understanding forensics and more. Students will develop the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to enter the field of cybersecurity. Students completing the minor will receive a certificate indicating their newly learned skill as well as having the notation of the minor on their transcripts.

The CRJ courses may be combined with Business courses at the discretion of an advisor:
Business minor students may substitute CRJ minor electives for Business and vice versa for CRJ students.
Students in Business should take as many business courses as possible, but may use CRJ courses as necessary to add up to 20 credits. Students in Business will work with a minor advisor from Business and students in Criminal Justice will work with a minor advisor in Criminal Justice. Other courses such as computer science, computer information systems or other related classes may also be taken with the advisor's permission. However, course should not duplicate what has already been taken. The advisor will make that decision with input from the bootcamp instructor, other instructors of courses, chairs, program directors and deans as appropriate.
