Grading Criteria for Progression in the Cardiovascular Technology Program

• A student must have an overall 2.5 Cumulative Index prior to beginning Cardiovascular Technology major courses.
• A grade of "B-" or better is necessary for all Cardiovascular Technology major courses.
• A grade of "C+" or better is necessary for all related requirement courses.
• Students who do not follow the designed course progression and have a one or two semester lapse between clinical rotations, due to a need to repeat a course or a leave of absence, will be required to successfully complete challenge examinations and demonstrate clinical competence prior to enrolling in another clinical course. The need for such examinations will be determined on an individual basis. Please consult with the Clinical Coordinator.

The following policies apply when a student attains a grade below "B-" in CVT courses and below "C+" in related requirements:

• CVT and related requirement courses may be repeated one time. Failure to attain the minimum grade for the second time will necessitate withdrawal from the Program.  Withdrawing from a course constitutes an attempt.

• Clinical CVT courses may be repeated once with the permission of the Program Director. A subsequent failure to achieve a "B-" in any other clinical necessitates withdrawal from the Program.

• A maximum of two different CVT courses may be repeated in the major. A failure to achieve a "B-" in a third CVT course will result in dismissal from the Program.

• Students who have been dismissed due to academic failure may not be readmitted to the CVT Program.
