MUS 1600 Electronic Music History and Analysis

In this course, students explore the use of mechanical, electrical and electronic devices throughout the history of music. From the Edison cylinder, to the player piano, to the use of sound recordings in Musique Concrete, to the works of Accousmatic composers like Dennis Smalley, this course offers a comprehensive look into the vast world of music and sound art, and its intersections with technology. (Satisfies General Education Music History requirement.)
