Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program

In today's world, people are seeking counseling services more than ever, making Clinical Mental Health Counseling a sought-after profession. Clinical Mental Health Counselors work in a variety of settings, such as clinics, hospitals, universities, and private practice offices and help people by implementing evidenced-based therapeutic interventions during individual or group counseling sessions.

As a graduate student in the CMHC program, students will take thought-provoking and experiential classes, and become proficient in the latest data-driven counseling theories and interventions. Students will be challenged and encouraged to reflect on their own beliefs and value systems as they study and internalize the many different theories and methods that have been developed to aid those who are in distress. Molloy students present at regional, statewide, and national counseling conferences and are placed in the most competitive clinical setting in the New York area. The CMHC program works closely with students and implements a successful mentorship model that encourages each Molloy graduate student to reach their full potential. As a counselor-in-training at Molloy University, the CMHC program prepares students to be on the cutting edge of the counseling profession.

While training at their practicum and internship placements, CMHC students begin to apply the most effective techniques in both individual and group counseling therapy, while training in a variety of settings with diverse populations, maximizing the potential and quality of people's lives. Molloy's Mental Health and Wellness Center is housed in our CMHC department and offers an opportunity for students to work with clients under live supervision in both face-to-face and tele-mental health therapy sessions.

The Molloy University Clinical Mental Health Counseling master's program prepares students in the best possible way for their future as professional counselors.
