COM 2260 History of New Media

(formerly NMD 2260)

The course introduces students to the historical development and evolution of media technologies from the advent of literacy to the present. Through a combination of readings, videos, lectures, and digital projects, students will engage a variety of media including the printing press, photography, virtual reality, and more. Social, cultural, and political issues related to media will be central to this course. Ultimately, students will be challenged to extend their knowledge of historical and contemporary media through creative projects and classroom discussions.
