COM 2230 Queer Digital Storytelling

This course will introduce students to the field of queer studies and emphasizes the potential inherent in queer(y)ing stories/narrative. Students will explore these forms and analyze a range of queer worldbuilding strategies, and their relationship to technology, in theory and practice, including performances, zines/comics, contemporary debates, digital archives, short stories, podcasts, video games, and filmmaking. The course project will allow students to develop a digital storytelling project that explores a queer issue, perspective, activist organization, etc. of their choice. More than 50% of the coursework involves oral presentations.
