Students may consider majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies as a pathway to a career in the field of human services. It is highly recommended to consult with the Social Work Department to explore career options and the selection of courses for this concentration.
Those who choose a Social Work Concentration must take a minimum of 18 SWK credits. The following courses are recommended: SWK 2000, SWK 2500, SWK 3430, SWK 3440 or SWK 3600. Social Work electives, with the chairperson's approval, may substitute for two recommended courses.
Interdisciplinary Studies majors may not participate in the field practicum or Capstone courses: SWK 4600, SWK 4610, SWK 4900, SWK 4910.
Interdisciplinary Studies majors in Social Work are not eligible for advanced standing status for graduate social work education.
