General Education Requirements (35 Credits)

Arts and Fine Arts (3 Credits) One out of two disciplines: ART History or COM Speech Communication

NOTE: The General Education requirement is 44, and has been adjusted to 35, because 3 credits the Languages requirement is waived; the following Major requirement will also satisfy a General Education requirement: MUS 2000. Students will take a total of 3 credits in either a Languages or Literature course for the Languages/Literature requirement.
Major Requirements (64-66)
Major requirements total may vary depending on Music Theory Placement.
A grade of "C" or higher is necessary for all required music courses.
Music Theory Placement Requirement (0-2 credits pending waiver)
Students will typically start with MUS 1010 Theory Fundamentals unless they successfully complete a music theory placement exam. In these cases MUS 1010 may be waived.
Music Core Requirements (40 Credits)
Music History/Theory Elective Requirement (6 Credits)
A minimum of 6 credits in additional Music History/Theory Elective courses must be taken.
Piano Requirement (4 Credits)
All Bachelor of Science in Music students are required to take a minimum of four credits of MUS1260 Applied Piano. Students who declare Piano as their main instrument must enroll in Applied Piano every semester for the entire length of their academic degree.
Applied Music Requirement (8 Credits)
Please note that student in the Bachelor of Science in Music are required to take at least one applied lesson in their primary instrument for the entire length of their academic degree.

Ensemble Requirement (6 Credits)
Required each semester for 0-1 credits. Must be selected relative to student's primary instrument or voice. Complete from the following courses:
Recital Attendance Requirement (0 Credits)
MUS 0100 is required for 8 semesters.
Related Requirements (3 Credits)
Second Languages or Literature (3 Credits)
Allowed Languages courses are: ARA, CHI, ESL, FRE, ITA, SPA.
Note: (No ASL) Refer to the General Education Section of the Catalog for appropriate courses.
Electives (19-21 Credits)
The Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) requirement for a B.S. degree is met. FST 1000 counts towards required Electives. If MUS 1010 is waived, adjust Electives.
