Transfer Credit for PhD Nursing
Program allows for nine (9) doctoral-level transfer credits with a grade of "B" or higher if the courses are judged equivalent to those required in Molloy’s PhD in Nursing Program. Students with an earned terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DNP) may have up to 21 doctoral-level credits with a grade of "B+" or higher considered for transfer.
Transfer courses for the PhD in Nursing program must have been completed at an accredited institution within five (5) years to be considered for transfer. Courses submitted for transfer credit are evaluated individually relative to program requirements and the student's plan of study. The course must either be duplicative of courses required within the program and/or congruent with the student’s focus for cognates that support the dissertation research and/or career goals.
A student requesting transfer of credit submits the request, an official copy of the transcript, and a copy of the course syllabus (course descriptions, credit allocation, and learning outcomes) to the Director of the PhD in Nursing Program.
The extent to which learning objectives and outcomes overlap may vary from program to program. An individualized program of study for the prospective student will be determined through gap analysis. The Director of the PhD in Nursing Program and the Office of Research, Scholarship, and Graduate Studies must approve all transfers of credit. Students must complete a minimum of 30 PhD in Nursing credits from Molloy University to graduate with a degree from Molloy University.
