Biology Facilities
The Department has teaching laboratories for course work in General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Embryology, Genetics, Comparative Anatomy, Cell Biology Hematology, Immunology, Histology and Microbiology. Advanced research laboratories enable protocols for molecular biology and tissue culture. These facilities also support student and faculty research, supporting the integration of laboratory experiences that utilize multiple methodologies, including 2D and 3D tissue culture, CRISPR technology, static and dynamic fluorescence microscopy, histology and immunochemistry.
Department and School of Arts and Sciences Faculty have access to the West Sayville Field Station located at the historic Blue Points Oyster Hatchery. This science research center and field station on the Great South Bay. is committed to advancing knowledge and developing solutions to environmental problems in coastal ecosystems through a network of group-cooperative monitoring activities, captive breeding programs, research and community outreach.
Chemistry and Physics Facilities
The Department has two large teaching laboratories for work in Inorganic and Organic Chemistry. One large combination teaching laboratory and lecture room accommodates the needs of General Physics and Earth Science.
The undergraduate laboratory experience in all the sciences is augmented by internships and field experiences with off-campus institutions.
