Art
The Art Department at Molloy University is home to two academic programs: B.F.A. in Studio Art with concentrations in Digital Art, Drawing, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Ceramics, Sculpture and Art History or a B.S. in Visual Arts Education. The faculty foster a sense of intellectual and creative exchange between the two programs. The Art Department offers a minor in Art History, Art Therapy, Art and Media Innovation, Graphic Design, Photography and Studio Art.
The faculty are committed to combining the pursuit of serious scholarship and studio practice and providing a caring and rigorous education in the visual arts for Molloy’s students.
Faculty, staff and students are a diverse and vibrant community bound together by the shared purposes of understanding the history, theory and practice of the visual arts. The Art Department welcomes students who want to pursue majors and minors in Studio Arts, Visual Arts Education and Art History at Molloy University.
The course offerings reflect a diversity of faculty expertise, attention to student needs and the spirit of exploration with new concepts and technologies in art. Molloy's proximity to New York City provides students with opportunities to experience current art exhibitions in museums and galleries and be actively engaged in the “Art Capital of the World”.
The Art Department enjoys a close working relationship with the Molloy Art Gallery located in Kellenberg Hall.
The Molloy Art Gallery is a dedicated educational space designed to support the academic and professional growth of Molloy University students. It functions as a hands-on learning lab where students gain real-world experience in:
- Art handling and installation
- Creating promotional materials
- Preserving and maintaining the collection
Under the guidance of faculty and staff, students develop specialized skills that prepare them for careers in galleries, museums, and other creative industries.
