CRJ 2700 Constitutional Amendment IV
(formerly CRJ 270)
This course will reflect the professor’s belief that in order to understand criminal justice issues currently confronting America, it is necessary to understand the historical and cultural development of certain Constitutional Amendments. Specifically, the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution commonly referred to as "The Bill of Rights," limit the power of the federal government with respect to the several states and the individual citizen. This course will explore the amendment and its relationship to American policing and the criminal justice system, and then survey some of the most significant cases in 4th amendment jurisprudence.
