MUS 5070 Psychopathology and Music Therapy
Students will examine contemporary theories and research on classification, etiology, and treatment of mental and behavioral conditions. Students will review the theory of scientific classification and the basis of DSM-V assessment classification, as well as critically examine the histories of this classification system. Music therapy case studies will be reviewed and presented to enhance student's understanding of psychopathology and individuals with mental health conditions, as well as the impact of various types of treatment. Current trends in music therapy treatment will be discussed.
