NUR 6040 Philosophical Evolution of Nursing Knowledge
Elements of philosophy of science are used as a guide to exploration of the evolution of nursing science. Nursing theory construction is examined as a foundation for research. The integration of the roles of praxis, scholarship and stewardship of the profession is investigated, with an emphasis on generation of knowledge. Students evaluate theories that complement nursing, including theories related to development, social learning, behavior change and health promotion. Integrated course content assists students in development of the theoretical basis of the dissertation.
