ENG 2113 Queer(ying) Spaces

We hear the term queer space(s) a lot in contemporary cultural discussions and, while the term may be new, the connection between space/place and queer experience is anything but new. The experience of being queer is intimately linked to how people are able to navigate the spaces in which we live. This course will explore this navigation of spaces in relation to gender expression, identify, and sexual experience as well as these questions of how queer experience impacts daily lived experience and how we are able to imagine space. Throughout this course, students will be asked to interrogate space and place as central frameworks for investigating questions of belonging, place-making, identity, and queer worldbuilding.
