Transfer Policy
Students who have completed graduate-level courses at another institution may transfer nine (9) credits with a grade of “B” or higher, if the courses are judged equivalent to those required in Molloy’s Graduate Program. The doctoral programs allow for nine (9) doctoral-level transfer credits with a grade of "B" or higher. For the education doctoral program an additional three (3) credits doctoral-level college credits with a grade of "B" or higher may be accepted. For the PhD in Nursing, students with an earned terminal degree (i.e., PhD, EdD, DNP), may have up to 21 doctoral-level credits with a grade of "B+" or higher considered for transfer.
Transfer courses must have been completed within the following time frame to be considered:
- Graduate Business Program: Ten (10) years - Beyond 10 years, requires Graduate Program Director's Approval
- Graduate Criminal Justice Program: Five (5) years - Beyond 5 years, requires Graduate Program Director's Approval
- Education Master's Program: Five (5) years
- Nursing Master's Program: Five (5) years
- Graduate Music Therapy: Five (5) years
- Graduate Speech-Language Pathology Program: Five (5) years
- Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program: Five (5) years
- Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program: Five (5) years
- Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) Program: Five (5) years for doctoral-level and ten (10) years for cognate courses (For more information see Doctor of Education Program)
- Nursing Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Program: Five (5) years - Beyond 5 years, requires PhD Program Director approval.
- Communication Sciences and Disorders Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program: Five (5) years, Beyond 5 years, requires Ph.D. program director approval.
For doctoral program cognate requirements, the Doctoral Program Director for the school must approve credits for meeting this requirement.
For the Post Master's Advanced Certificate in Nursing, the student's transfer credits will include all prior learning and credits at other institutions, as deemed necessary, to document the student's completion of requirements for the Advanced Certificate. The Associate Dean of the Graduate Nursing Program will make this evaluation. The student's plan of study for an Advanced Certificate would be to expand the area of study based upon all applicable credits.
For the Post Master's Advanced Certificates in Business, students may transfer six (6) credits, upon review by the Graduate Program Director.
For the Post Baccalaureate Advanced Certificate in Business, students who earned the certificate at Molloy can fully apply the credits towards an MBA.
