Applicant with Bachelor's Degree

Eligibility for Applicant with Bachelor’s Degree

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in CSD or an equivalent in a related field (such as, but not limited to, Psychology, Linguistics, Education)
  2. A GPA of 3.8 or above in the Bachelor’s Program
  3. Completion of the Test of English as a Foreign Language Test if the Undergraduate Degree is from outside of United States 
  4. Evidence of hands-on research experience prior to applying to the program

Applicant with Bachelor’s Degree: Application materials

  1. A certificate of Bachelor’s degree in CSD or an equivalent in a related field (such as, but not limited to, Psychology, Linguistics, Education)
  2. Official transcripts for Bachelor’s degree from an U.S. institution or assessed transcripts for a Bachelor’s degree through World Education Services  (or an U.S. accredited agency) from a foreign institution
  3. Official scores from Test of English as a Foreign Language Test taken within 2 years of application date.
  4. A personal statement regarding 1) the reasons to pursue a Ph.D., 2) details of the expected career a Ph.D. would lead to for the candidate and 3) an area of research interests with justifications
  5. At least 3 recommendation letters from academics or professionals describing academic strength and achievements, and specific qualities that speak to the teaching, research and doctoral potential for the candidate
  6. Curriculum Vitae
  7. Supporting documentation establishing prior research experience and writing
    1. Published papers
    2. Unpublished research papers such as undergraduate thesis or master’s thesis
    3. Abstracts from conference presentations and posters
    4. Letters from lab directors describing lab experience
    5. An interview with CSD admissions
