Graduate Course Substitutions
Students accepted into the Dual Degree in Music Therapy may replace a maximum of nine (9) graduate credits for nine (9) undergraduate credits depending upon individualized transfer credit evaluations and advisement.
Dual degree students must be awarded a bachelor's degree prior to being formally accepted into the MS program. Dual degree students will need to be assessed and approved by the Program Director, prior to matriculating in the graduate program. (See the Music Therapy Student Handbook for guidelines.) No additional graduate-level courses other than those specified in this catalog as approved for substitution may be taken until the bachelor's degree has been conferred.
If accepted into the Dual Degree Program, students will be responsible for:
- Completing a Change of Major request on through Lions Den from B.S. in Music Therapy to D.D. in Music Therapy, which officially changes the degree status to that of a Dual Degree student at Molloy University.
- Contacting their academic supervisor to ensure that they will be registered for graduate level courses.
Students matriculated into the Dual Degree Program need to remain must maintain eligibility in the following areas for acceptance into the graduate music therapy program:
- Maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 each semester they have been matriculated in the undergraduate music therapy program.
- Earned a letter grade of B or higher in all music, music therapy, and psychology courses, including the 9-credits of graduate coursework.
- Internship case presentation and evaluations from the student’s on-site and academic supervisor reflect consistent growth and competency in clinical training.
If all criteria have been met, a student will receive confirmation from the Director of Graduate Music Therapy to welcome them to the graduate program.
If students fail to maintain the above criteria for eligibility, they will be responsible for changing their major to the B.S. in Music Therapy degree program for the remainder of their senior year and will not continue into the Graduate Music Therapy program.
