Leads to NY State PreK-12 Business and Marketing Education Initial Certification
The business and marketing education program is designed to develop, extend, and enhance the professional competencies of business and marketing education teachers. Completion of the program provides a Master of Science in education degree and satisfies the requirements for eligibility to apply for initial certification to teach business and marketing in New York State.
Acceptable studies include courses in accounting, marketing, keyboarding, advertising, computer literacy, macro- and microeconomics, money and finance, banking, and management. Courses in computer programming, repair and/or design are not acceptable. (Such courses are acceptable for certification in the occupational subject computer technology).
Prerequisite for this program: Bachelor’s degree, GPA 3.0
Candidates in possession of an Initial certification in another area will be able to apply for professional certification with this master's degree through the NYSED Teach Online system.
