NUR 5382 CNS Practicum: Organizational Sphere of Impact

This practicum course cultivates CNS students’ ability to provide specialty-based, point-of-care clinical education, classroom teaching, and clinical consultation. CNS students’ use Benner’s Novice-to-Expert ideas to assess, develop, coach, and mentor nurses. Students guide nurses’ use of evidence-based practice to provide high-quality, safe patient care. Other topics include: assessing nurses’ work environment, technology, policy awareness, forming nurses’ knowledge acquisition skills, addressing low health literacy, planning formal education for staff nurses, and estimating its fiscal value. 166 Clinical hours; four synchronous online executive-format seminars.
