Advancement to Candidacy for PhD Nursing

With successful completion of the Comprehensive Examination, the student advances to candidacy. They are deemed by faculty to have demonstrated both a breadth and depth of knowledge in the field of study and are qualified to conduct the research necessary for the dissertation. Advancement to candidacy must be achieved at least two (2) semesters prior to their anticipated graduation. Upon review that the student has fulfilled all criteria, advancement will be granted. The student will then maintain matriculation through the dissertation process. The student will receive written notice when advanced to the Doctoral Candidacy stage of the PhD program.
