NUR 5291 Health Issues with a Global View

This course focuses the student on current health care issues in a global environment. The health care demands and health promotion strategies for a changing world population are addressed in light of social, political, environmental, and economic conditions. Course content includes issues related to global health such as delivery systems; allocation of resources; health care personnel; food and medicines; population dynamics; cultural implications; and environmental threats including pollution and bioterrorism. Current health related practices, policies, and conditions are highlighted. Students are expected to incorporate current research and theoretical bases to synthesize global health concepts and related implications for health care action. 45 lecture hours per semester.
