NUR 5388 Basic Stroke Nursing Acute and Post-Acute Phase
This course uses case-based applications to strengthen nurses’ ability to provide acute and post-acute care for patients with strokes. Course content builds nursing-specific knowledge to manage acute patient care, including neurological assessment; diagnostic testing; patients’ basic physiologic needs; patient safety measures; nursing actions to preserve patients’ functional ability; facilitating a therapeutic environment; spiritual and psychosocial care; ethical, end-of-life, palliative care issues; and discharge planning for patients’ transitions to post-acute and rehabilitation care settings.
