NUR 5293 Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Healthcare: An Integrated Approach
This course examines evidence-based and effective techniques that can be used to improve the delivery of health care to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in order to maximize outcomes and enhance the quality of life. Students will learn techniques to facilitate improved communication, including recognizing challenging behavior as a form of communication and skills to accurately diagnose and develop effective treatment plans. The application of these concepts in the areas of health, law, ethics, and policy will be presented. Topics Elective.
