NUR 5385 Basics of Nursing Patients with Strokes: Hyperacute Phase
This course is designed for nurses who work with patients who have strokes. Course content includes relevant foundations in neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurovascular anatomy & physiology, etiology of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, stroke mimic conditions, and stroke syndrome. An emphasis is placed on the first hour care, the hyperacute phase, when patients move from the field to an emergency department, and then to in-patient hyper-acute/critical care. Standards for the hyperacute care phase will be presented. (3 credits, 45 lecture hours) Elective
