EDU 5283 Strategies, Methods, & Environments for Teaching Students with Disabilities PreK-12
The goal of this course is to enable teacher candidates to utilize effective teaching methodologies and create learning environments to promote success for students with disabilities. This course will examine the behavioral, psycho-educational, social, environmental, and developmental needs of the student with disabilities. This course will emphasize how to develop and implement strategies and methods to utilize in the teaching and learning process. Formative and summative methods to measure progress in social, behavioral, and psycho-educational areas will be addressed. The social-emotional needs of the student with varied learning needs will be explored. All necessary developmental skills will be taught as part of New York State Learning Standards and curriculum, and the Standards of the Council for Exceptional Children, as they relate to the elementary, middle and high school program.
