EDU 5932 Law and Policy in Higher Education

This course is designed for students who do not intend to become attorneys but require knowledge of the law to inform their professional practice in higher education administration. Students will be challenged to learn how to identify and resolve legal issues common to higher education administration. In addition, the course is intended to familiarize students with regulatory, statutory, and case law that have implications for both higher education administrators and policy makers with particular emphasis on such areas as employment including affirmative action, dismissal, contracts, tenure, civil rights, due process, and student rights.
