Attention will be given to helping the teacher candidate develop strategies to teach to a diverse and multicultural population. The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics’ (NCTM) eight mathematical practices will be investigated and applied in all activities. Guided by the New York State Learning Standards for Mathematics, a content item analysis of the mathematics and question formats of the Grade 7, Grade 8 NYS assessments and the Algebra 1 Common Core Regents will be reviewed.
