EDU 5920 Reimagining Education

This course is designed to enable Molloy students to take a three credit course while participating in Teacher’s Summer Institute, "Reimagining Education: Teaching and Learning in Racially Diverse Schools" in New York City. The 4-day Institute will assist and support leaders and educators from urban and suburban communities across the country in the process of rethinking policy, pedagogy and practice for a more racially, ethnically and socioeconomically diverse student body. This course, therefore, will give Ed.D. students a unique opportunity to engage with major speakers, performers and facilitators committed to addressing issues of inequality within our school systems. In addition to participating in the Institute, Molloy students will meet once before and once after the Institute to discuss their class-specific readings and assignments related to the central themes of the Institute but tailored to a graduate course in the multidisciplinary field of educational leadership. The course will provide for greater integration of research and practice and for helping course participants identify contemporary issues in education as their potential topics for dissertation research.
