EDU 5910 Diversity Equity and Inclusion in American Higher Education
Students will learn how the mission and purpose of higher education has evolved, including the aims of higher education, who it serves, how access is granted, and the types and forms of institutions. Students will also learn in what ways various groups, including Boards of Trustees, accrediting bodies, government, faculty, administration, students, and others influence and control higher education. In this analysis attention will be given to the ways in which these influencers limit, promote or protect higher education as a force for promoting social justice, diversity, inclusion and equity.
