EDU 5372 Mythology, Fiction, Film and the Teaching of Contemporary Issues to Diverse Adolescent Learners

In this course, pre-service and in-service teachers are invited to explore how selected mythological themes are employed in modern films, novels and short stories to teach social concerns. The techniques, approaches and impact of the genres are analyzed, synthesized, compared and contrasted, with particular emphasis on how the diverse learner experiences and learns from these genres. Technology components are addressed as an applicable strategy for instruction.
